ThePonale Path is an absolute icon of Lake Garda: an ancient route carved into the rock between 1848 and 1851, offering spectacular views sheer above the lake waters. It is one of the most beloved and popular trails in Europe, renowned for both its historical and scenic value. The vegetation is Mediterranean, featuring cypresses and holm oaks growing among the sheer cliffs. With its rock-hewn tunnels and hairpin turns overlooking the lake, the Ponale was considered an engineering masterpiece of its time.
